Biscuits and Gravy (4)

Biscuits and Gravy (5)

There was a suggestion from one of our employees that biscuits and gravy would be a great treat.  I’ve always been a little tentative with this, not knowing what recipe would work the best.  Over the years I’ve had this breakfast and most often have enjoyed it, but sometimes the cook misses the mark and I’m left disappointed.  Here ‘s the recipe from Taste of Home that I settled on for our office breakfast and I was quite satisfied with it.  The original recipe was for only two servings  so I increased the quantities accordingly to make 16 servings.  But I prepared it the night before and found I had to add milk to thin it when I heated it up in the crockpot. This recipe was “approved” by the crew and so it will be kept in my permanent files.  Do you have a favorite biscuits and gravy recipe?  Please share it with us!

16 Tbsp butter

20 Tbsp flour

2 tsp salt

1 tsp pepper

10 Cups Milk

Warm biscuits

1. In a skillet, cook sausage over medium heat until no longer pink; drain.  Add butter and heat until melted.  Add the flour, salt and pepper; cook and stir until blended.  Gradually add the milk, stirring constantly.  Bring to a boil; cook and stir for 2 minutes or until thickened.  Serve with biscuits

I agree. There needs to be a lot of sausage. But I am, of course a big fan of meat! Thanks for reading our newsletter.
