Crock Pot Beef Roast Recipe

It was one of those days.  I had come down with a cold and didn’t feel like getting out of bed, much less making something to eat.  I recalled a Facebook conversation I had seen recently about crock pot roast – one of my friends had bought the ingredients but couldn’t find the recipe.  She had several responses which offered advice using the ingredients she had bought as well as an entirely different set of items.  I decided to surf the internet for the process she was looking for and found it on .  How nice it was to quickly put things into the crock pot and then forget about it.  This recipe is certainly one “to die for”, and can be cooked for slicing or cooked even more so you can shred it. My seasoning ingredients were not exactly what the recipe called for, but I had no issue with the flavor!

To Die for Crock Pot Roast


1 (4-5 lb.) beef roast, any kind

1 (1.25 oz.) package brown gravy mix, dry (I used a .87 oz. pkg.)

1 (1.25 oz.) package dried Italian salad dressing mix (I used a .7 oz. pkg.)

1 (1.25 oz.) package ranch dressing mix, dry (I used a 1.0 oz. pkg.)

½ cup water



  1. Place beef roast in crock pot
  2. Mix the dried mixes together in a bowl and sprinkle over the roast
  3. Pour the water around the roast
  4. Cook on low for 7-9 hours
