The Asian man standing in the white background

Hmmm.  While that’s a new term for me, the subject it refers to is quite familiar.  Jolene Brown, speaker, author, farmer, and champion for the people of agriculture uses this term to describe those people who live their lives dumping negative loads on everyone they meet.  Here’s what she recommends.

  • While this may be hard, stop and listen attentively to that person’s complaints.  If you don’t they may just keep adding to their list until they feel they’ve gotten your attention.
  • Next be prepared to interrupt and change body positions.  Body movement indicates you’re ready for action and solutions.
  • Acknowledge what the person is saying but don’t take responsibility for their list.  Ask what they intend to do about a particular problem and then move on.
  • If all else fails, have a legal size pad of paper with you and immediately start writing down their list of complaints.  When they ask what you’re doing, show your list saying you acknowledge their  concerns. Ask which one they would like to start working on, offering your help,  or if they simply simply wanted to vent.

Everyone needs to dump once in awhile, but when a skunk person continuously sprays complaints every time you meet, you may need to change your behaviors in order to help them change theirs.  Do you know any skunk people?

About 10 years ago we had an employee who started with us and all he could do was complain. This started what I called the huhgs disease, seamed as though everyone started to complain along with him. To this day we still have this disease even though the employee is gone. Have no idea how to reverse this trend we are in, we solve most problems but the ones left out their get a lot of miles.

Unfortunately, the effects of those negative people can exist forever. I hope you can identify the “new” skunk people who continue to plague your environment. Thanks for the input.
