Social media is the most popular online activity – overtaking X-rated sites and Email recently – and the Titan Outlet Store is trying to stay current and offer our customers many ways to connect and communicate with us.
Our approach to social networking and social media is one that not enough companies have taken: we want to increase two-way communications instead of pushing our message and trying to sell farm and construction equipment all day (we have a sales staff for that!). What we want to do is LISTEN to what you have to say. We want to get to know you. We want to connect with you and become more than a place to get a great buy on a used tractor or combine (or baler, tillage, planting equipment, construction equipment….the list goes on!). We even have a blog series to help farmers and construction professionals get started and have success with social media – see the posts here: Titan Outlet Store: Facebook for Farmers.
We ask that you look for us on any of the sites you use (and if you’re not on these sites, give them a try!). We’ll strive to offer you something informational, entertaining, or time saving every day. Here are some links to help you find us:
Facebook: www.facebook.com/TitanOutletStore This is where we have daily discussions, contest information, farming tips and tidbits, post a couple pictures and videos of our equipment, and more!
Twitter: www.twitter.com/TitanOutlet We use Twitter to communicate and learn more about the AgVocates working hard to help make the internet a better place for farmers.
YouTube: www.youtube.com/TitanOutletStore YouTube is more than just a video site for us – we hold contests through YouTube, connect with a lot of great ag and construction videographers, and provide demos on almost all of our used equipment to give buyers confidence that our tractors, combines, implements, etc. are in great working condition.
Flickr: http://www.flickr.com/people/titanoutletstore/ Admittedly, we’re not as active on Flickr as we should be. We put a lot of our pictures on equipment classified sites, our inventory site, and our website – but the pictures we put (and will continue putting!) on Flickr are some of the great farm photos, photos taken for blog posts, and photos from events we attend.
Skype: While this isn’t really a social networking site, it’s a great way for us to communicate with our customers. We have several great customers in Uruguay, lots of happy customers in Canada, and we’re working with some Agricultural Delegates from Africa to help get them better equipment. If they wanted to call us every time they had a question, the phone bills would pile up quick.
With Skype, we can have a video conference (for free!) and we can see and hear everything each party has to say. You can find us at don.aberle or alec.winmill – we’d love to Skype with you!
The majority of our office staff is on LinkedIn, as well. LinkedIn is a great social network for business – you can recommend people, learn about people’s work or education history, and join groups related to your industry (we’re a part of many farm and construction professional groups as well as sub categories for what we do daily – I’m a member of design and social media groups, Don is a member of managerial groups, etc.). Find me at www.linkedin.com/in/alecwinmill and from there you can find Don, Chad, Kelly, or anyone else on our staff.
We’re also on AgLoop, brought to us by the guys who run the HayTalk forums. We haven’t been to active on this one, but it’s pretty easy to use and seems like a good resource. We wrote a blog post about AgLoop recently: check it out here.
That’s where you can find us online – for now, anyway. We’ll try to keep up with what’s going on in the world of social networking to better serve and communicate with you. If you can think of any we missed, we’d love to join you – let us know in the comments and we’ll check it out.
