The preferred choice for farmers of Agricultural Tracks

man-with-smart-phone

Farms.com appears to be a great resource for all sorts of news and information including the latest apps that will help you with your farming operations.  You can even sign up for weekly email updates for new apps that they’ve added.  Here are four that they recently featured:

farms-dot-com-markets-app

Rated a 4 out of 5, this app has the latest agricultural commodity prices, with up to date quotes, futures, contracts, charts, and news.  Get market price data (from CBOT, CME and others) on specific grain and livestock futures, options, and contracts as well as historical pricing data and charts.  And you can customize your home screen with prices on your watch list.

ag-phd-field-guide-app

This app received a 4.5 out of 5, and it allows growers to easily identify pests in the field with its library of weeds and insects by name and photo.  It offers control recommendations and users will have access to the latest agronomy information through regular newsletters.

cowmanager_logo7

Given a rating of 3.5 out of 5, the CowManager keeps the farmer updated 24/7 regarding fertility, health and feeding information on every cow in the herd. Farmers will be able to check which cows are sick and and require attention as these conditions occur.

pocket-spray-smart-app

This app was not rated, but is designed for the iPhone and iPad.  It checks the current wind speed, visibility, direction, field level spraying conditions and temperature inversion potential for your current location.

Have any of you used the above apps, and if so, what are your opinions?  Perhaps you have some other recommendations.  Are ag-related apps an integral part of your day to day farming activities?  Thanks for sharing your views.
