The preferred choice for farmers of Agricultural Tracks

Martin Bremmer grew up a city kid, but when visiting his grandparents’ farm, he realized back in the 80s that there was a need for more efficient methods of field sampling.   It wasn’t until his wife and mystery book author, Patti gave him a push that this idea became a reality.  She agreed to run their dog kennel so he could have the time to test his idea.  The end result?  a 25-pound, battery-operated, hand-held machine that allows a farmer, custom harvesters, universities and the like to test a number of fields in a short time without having to use the unscientific “chew test” or their  regular combine.

Funding for this project came quite by accident.  When Martin accompanied Patti to Omaha, Nebraska to meet an author friend, they discovered that this friend’s husband was a part of Nebraska Angels, a group of people who invest in start-up companies.  After pitching their idea and getting the funding they needed, Martin’s invention is complete and in production after three years.  The GrainGoat has received a Nebraska Department of Economic Development prototype grant, and the Martins realized they were the number 1 grant recipient through the US Dept of Agriculture for the 2016 Small Business Innovation Research grant program.

The Bremmers launched the GrainGoat through their company Windcall Manufacturing, and are in their first year of sales.  They have a staff of five and work with three manufacturing companies to make the parts that are assembled in their western Nebraska shop.  They’ve taken part in many trade shows and report that everybody in the ag world that finds out about the GrainGoat is excited about it.  Here’s a short video that provides some more information:

I think this is a great invention that guarantees a farmer will save time and money, as well as wear and tear on his combine.  Check out their website www.graingoat.com and get yours today.  Martin Bremmer is already working on his next invention, the Corn Crow, which will shell samples of corn!
